Undergraduate engagement in research during the COVID-19 pandemic
This project aims to investigate how undergraduate engagement in research activities has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the project is an illuminative evaluation of the experiences of undergraduate researchers and reviewers in participating in the “Great ACUR Undergraduate Research Writing Project” where they were asked to explore how COVID-19 had changed research within a chosen disciplinary area. The research is designed to explore how undergraduate researchers experienced engaging in the ACUR Undergraduate Research Writing project; what were their motivations for entering, what did they gain and what, if any, actions did they take following the experience; what were the motivations and experiences of the reviewers; and what do the 500-word written statements submitted for the competition tell us about how COVID-19 has impacted research in different disciplines?
